The Children Your NightLights Donation Provides For
The children that benefit from your NightLights Donation are all children who have been abused, neglected or are at-risk in our community. These are the children that Realities For Children is dedicated to providing for each and every day of the year. Working collaboartaively with our network of 31 Affiliate Youth Agencies in Larimer County we are able to create a County wide safety net that helps us to ensure that no child in need is forgotten.
The extent of this need is more significant than most people realize. Last year 10,130 children were served in Larimer County with 4,280 children entering the foster care system in Colorado, and on average 5 children die every day in the U.S. at the hands of their abuser.
These are children that feel alone, unheard and invisible. They are lost in the darkness of the abuse. Realities For Children has been uniting our child protection community and community at large for over 20 years to make certain these children are not forgotten and for the past 19 years we have invited everyone to come together in a show of support at the NightLights Tree Lighting Celebration and gather around the NightLights tree that shines it's light into the darkness of child abuse.
Thanks to our Business Members and Sponsors who underwrite all administrative and event costs 100% of your donation directly serves children when there is nowhere else to turn.
“On behalf of the Larimer County Department of Human Services, I would like to extend my greatest appreciation to the Realities For Children NightLights Donors. Everyday, in our community, children are identified as being in harm’s way due to the neglect and abuse they are subjected to. At times, it is disheartening to see so many kids and families suffering. It takes a community, not a single agency, to develop solutions to help kids and families. Realities For Children has truly made a difference in the lives of so many. Thank you for supporting our efforts to protect our most vulnerable citizens.”
~Angela Mead, Deputy Division Manager- Larimer County DHS

All grants that are distributed for emergency needs and services are verified and screened to make certain of the child’s need and that all other funding resources are exhausted or otherwise unavailable. This not only makes certain that these resources are most efficiently utilized but also ensures that the Emergency Fund reaches those children who truly need it most. This Emergency Fund is available 24/7 and able to be granted within 60 minutes of a request.
