Every December, the Members of Realities For Children present Bikes For Tykes to provide helmets and bicycles to local children who have been abused, neglected, or are at-risk for abuse and neglect. |

2009 Bikes for Tykes
On behalf of the children we serve, we thank everyone that made the Realities For Children’s 14th Annual Bikes for Tykes distribution a success for nearly 500 local, at-risk youth on Saturday, December 12th, including: Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, Exodus Moving and Storage, Fort Collins Coloradoan, K99, Larimer County Community, Lee’s Cyclery, The Phoenix Cyclery, Breakaway Cycles, The Trek Shop, First Presbyterian Church, Rocky Mountain Communication Specialties, Inc., Wal-Mart and volunteers.
Individual and groups donated new and used bicycles to this year's Bikes for Tykes. Lee's Cyclery, The Phoenix Cyclery, Breakaway Cycles and The Trek Shop safety-checked and refurbished the bicycles to ensure safe riding for each recipient, and the members of Realities For Children provided brand new helmets to each youth at the event - hosted at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Collins.
When Realities For Children saw a greater demand for bikes - from local Fort Collins affiliate youth agencies this past month, each one of these groups stepped up their efforts and an entire community rallied together to collect, purchase and/or donate nearly 500 bicycles for abused, neglected and at-risk children – making this year’s Bikes for Tykes the largest ever!
This year, Bikes for Tykes was expanded to Castle Rock - where Jeff Fleck made it his mission to create a Realities for Children Charities' Bikes for Tykes in that area. He plans to make this an annual event and happily distributed nearly 80 bicycles to abused, neglected and at-risk children in that community.
Seeing business members, individuals and community groups continue to go above and beyond in service for our children, is truly heartwarming. From the entire staff at Realities For Children and the youth we serve, THANK YOU!
